Guests enjoyed a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings thanks to support from local organisations.

Over 55s headed to the Dunmow Day Centre on Tuesday for a slap-up meal with a turkey from Sweetlands, paid for by Amalgamated Trusts of Dunmow and the Co-op, on White Street, donated vegetables, pigs in blankets, mince pies, puddings, cream, wine, soft drinks, cranberry sauce and After Eight mints.

During the meal people took part in a raffle and Deanie Clayden, of High Roding, was the lucky winner of a luxury hamper.

Manager of the Dunmow Day Centre, Willie Fraser, said: “We do this every Christmas and it is the highlight of the year for us. It is so great to see so many people here. We would like to thank all the local organisations that have made donations towards our Christmas lunch and contributed raffle prizes.”

• The Dunmow Day Centre is open on Monday to Friday with coffee from 10am to noon and lunch at 12.30pm. A two course dinner costs £5.
