PEOPLE living and working in Dunmow are being asked to come up with ideas of images to decorate the town's new £1million library.

Essex County Council is putting the final pieces in place towards opening the

Dunmow Library and designers will commission some modern photographic images to grace the entrance of the building.

The new library, opposite the Co-op in White Street, will be much bigger and more central than the current premises in North Street. There will be more books and DVDs, a vastly increased computer suite with training on offer, and a self-service facility for customers to issue and return books.

There will also be a meetings room for hire by local organisations and extended opening times.

ECC's cabinet member for adults, health and community wellbeing, Cllr David Finch, said: "This is going to be a tremendous asset for all sections of the community and we want local residents to make suggestions for the photos.

"Perhaps the High Street is their 'image of Dunmow', the Doctor's Pond or something less cosy - the final choice of photo depends on the popular vote."

To have a say, residents should pick up an entry form from the library at North Street or email Dunmow.library@essex.gov.uk
