Air cadets were flying high after a historic day out learning about planes used during war.
Twelve air cadets and five staff members from 999 (Dunmow & District) Squadron visited two of the remaining Vulcan bombers – one at Newark Air Museum and the other at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield.
The cadets were told all about the plane’s cockpit and had a tour of a Wessex helicopter and a Draken fighter jet.
At the airport, the cadets visited the Vulcan To The Sky Trust, which maintains and displays the last flying Vulcan.
The group was also given a talk about the Vulcan bomber, including its historical importance during the Falklands War and the ongoing maintenance challenges faced by the trust volunteers.
