Something with a touch of spice was on the menu for the mayor and mayoress as they got to sample some specially-cooked cuisine as part of a charity auction.
Steve Schorah, from the Great Dunmow museum, won the opportunity to try his hand at cooking some Indian food at the Pride of Sylhet in Dunmow.
The prize had been donated by the restaurant owners, to be auctioned off at the Mayor’s Dinner & Dance held earlier in the year.
Mr Schorah, manager of the Dunmow Museum, was helped in the kitchen by Sue Dabbs and they prepared a meal for a group of friends – including mayor Phil Milne and mayoress June Milne.
He said: “Sue and I thoroughly enjoyed cooking the lunch, and eating it! She admitted to being a little nervous at the start but we soon settled into the cooking routine and had some excellent guidance from Zia and his chef. It was a fascinating experience.”
