Reception children at Felsted Primary School ran their own café in aid of Battersea Cats and Dogs Home – raising £163 for the charity.
Pupils were given total control over the project, voting on its name, Paradise Café, design, décor and menus.
Open for business on July 10, the classes took shifts manning and using the pop-up café, with staff and other students visiting throughout the day.
Held outside on picnic tables, the pupils baked cakes and biscuits for the event and bought squash to sell too. As well as providing the refreshments, the children served customers, cleaned up after them and even created their own posters for the café.
Battersea Cats and Dogs Home was chosen by the students at this year’s school council, with the reception classes currently learning about pets.
