MOTHER-of-two, Sue Evans, was left in a mess after refuge collectors failed to empty her household waste for almost two weeks.

The wheelie bin, which has now started to grow maggots, was full of Mrs Evans' rubbish ready for recycling when she put it out in the allocated spot, on the allocated day.

She was then baffled to return home to find her bin had been left still full of her rubbish.

Having contacted Uttlesford District Council, Mrs Evans, 43, of Dunmow, said: "I was told my recycling was not collected because it was in plastic bags, although they are 100 per cent recyclable but I was told my rubbish would not be collected while it is in them."

Since Uttlesford Council introduced the new wheelie bin system in Dunmow on June 5 people have been left confused by the system.

This is not the only issue that has left Mrs Evans outraged. She said: "I live in a row of three terrace cottages and between the six of us we have a total of nine wheelie bins. It really is like having a refuge tip at your home.

Mrs Evans is urging people who share her concerns to set up an action group by calling her on 01371 870660.

Nobody from Uttlesford District Council was available for comment at the time of going to print.
