POLICE in Uttlesford are taking part in the 'Not in my Neighbourhood' initiative all this week.
Dedicated to raising public awareness of all the work that is being done by local agencies to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour and make communities safer, the way it will work is for members of the key organisations that make up the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) to be located at places throughout the district, showcasing their work in support of the objectives of the partnership.
'Not in My Neighbourhood Week', which will run from October 13-17, is intended to promote better understanding of what is being done locally to tackle crime and to remind people of the large number of public services, in addition to Essex Police, that play a vital part in driving down crime.
Expect to see:
Fire officers talking about safety in the home and smoke alarms;
Neighbourhood watch co-ordinators promoting the 'message in a bottle' and 'nominated neighbour schemes';
Police officers talking about safety over Halloween and things like identity fraud and other crime reduction advice; and
the Youth Bus will be there, so people can see what it does for young people.
