TELEVISION newsreader, Philippa Heap, is starring in a pantomime being performed in Saffron Walden Town Hall this month.

Local amateur dramatics group, the Saffron Players, will be acting out the story of Dick Whittington and his Cat in the evenings of January 13, 14, 15, 20 and 21.

The lead role is being filled by Anglia News reporter Philippa Heap, who can be seen out of pantomime costume at 6pm, every weekday on ITV.

The established Saffron Players put on a pantomime each year for Saffron Walden and last year's Peter Pan was a big success.

Tickets for this year's show are just £5, or £4 if you book for a party of 10 or more and can be bought from Backpack on Hill Street.

So if you would like a mixture of an exciting story, awful jokes, comedy routines, music, dancing and audience participation to ease the post-Christmas blues, have fun and support a local organisation at the same time by checking out Dick Whittington and his Cat at the Town Hall.
