A Little Easton man has been appointed as one of three Deputy Lieutenants by the Lord Lieutenant of Essex.

Mr Gerald Vincent Bodenham Thompson used to be the High Sheriff of Essex, and in that role he fundraised to tackle crime in the community, and has a particular interest in unemployment and homelessness.

The other two deputies are the chairman of The Pride of Essex Awards, Leslie Dennison, and chairman of the National Farmers Union in Essex, Rosemary Padfield.

Lord Petre, Lord Lieutenant of Essex, said: “I am delighted to be able to make these appointments. The individuals concerned have made a great contribution to the county and fully deserve the recognition they have received.”

Mr Thompson and the other two deputies will represent the Queen in Essex and assist the Pre-Service Organisations, and Territorial, Auxiliary, and Volunteer Reserve.
