The product of the recent merger of the two charities Dunmow and District Community Fund and The Mayor's Charity Fund, is now getting ready for their biggest fund-raising event of the year, The Dunmow Open Golf Tournament. In its 13th year, the tournament has raised thousands of pounds for good causes in Dunmow and neighbouring districts and continues to attract golfers to compete for the prestigious Flitch trophy. This year the event will be held on September 8, at Channels Golf Club, Chelmsford, teeing off at noon. Teams will consist of four or more players and there are still places left for those wishing to enter. Organiser Tom McGuirk said: "It's always such an enjoyable event. We're also particularly interested to hear from business wishing to enter teams too and if enough pubs in the area enter then we may even have an extra trophy for the best pub team too as well as The Flitch trophy." Anyone wishing to enter a team should contact John Doe 01245 440005 or jadoe@btconnect.com or Tom McGuirk on 01371 874833.
