A DAY at the races was up for grabs for one lucky couple in a prize draw at the Dunmow Leisure Centre on Tuesday.

For the past six weeks, visitors to Lord Butler Leisure Centre, Saffron Walden, Mountfitchet Romeera Leisure Centre, Stansted, and the Great Dunmow Leisure Centre have entered their names into a free draw sponsored by the Essex Racing Club.

Megan Clark of High Easter won and Karen Steed of Dunmow was therunner-up winning a month's free membership to her nearest gym.

Barry Root, manager of Essex Racing Club, said: "The winners will have a day to remember. In the morning they'll go to the National Stud where they will be given a guided tour of the facilities including training areas.

"Then in the afternoon it's off to Newmarket races where they can mix with owners and breeders."

Jo Denton, contract sales and marketing manager for the leisure centres, said: "Not surprisingly, there's been a lot of interest in this competition from our members and everyone who entered their name was invited to come along to the evening.
