Police are appealing for witnesses following the assault


A man threatening to jump from a bridge on the A120 was detained under the mental health act last night (Wednesday).

Police were contacted at 7pm with reports of concerns for a man on a bridge a Notley Road, Braintree.

Officers closed the road below and the man was taken to a place of safety at 8pm.
