A man who kicked and punched his partner following a row about her using a tumble dryer instead of hanging the washing out to dry has been jailed for seven months.

Before Ipswich Crown Court was David White who denied assaulting Lavinia Beer at her home in Baynard Drive in Little Dunmow in August 2015.

He was found guilty by a jury by an 11-1 majority verdict.

During his trial White, 53, of Manchester, denied punching or kicking Ms Beer and claimed she was lying.

Ms Beer described her two year relationship with White as “on and off” and said that on the day before the alleged assault she had done some washing and White accused her of being “fat and lazy” for using the tumble dryer and not hanging it outside to dry.

He had left the house but returned the next morning and allegedly punched her in the face and kicked her.
