A man has been bailed after being arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal road crash on the M11.
Yesterday afternoon (Friday) a 47-year-old man from Chatham in Kent died in a three-vehicle collision which occurred on the M11 northbound between junctions 8 (Stansted Airport) and 9 (Saffron Walden).
He died at the scene after the black Ford Focus he was travelling was involved in a collision in lane two of the motorway.
This happened at around 1.40pm. Three other people were injured and were taken to hospital for treatment.
The two other vehicles involved were a white VW Transport van and a silver VW Golf.
The driver of the VW Transport van, a 40-year-old man from Sidcup, was taken to hospital for treatment but was then arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, Essex Police have said.
He has been bailed pending further police enquiries until Wednesday, June 24.
The M11 was closed for a number of hours whilst the vehicles were recovered and forensic investigation work was carried out.
The road reopened at 7pm.
