A man has been arrested after 87 golf buggies were stolen from a local business in Great Hallingbury between February 22 and February 25.

It was reported that entry was forced into a business at Stansted Distribution Centre and golf buggies worth £13,000 had been stolen from the premises.

The investigating officer, PC Hicks of the Uttlesford local policing team, received information from the owner that the same type of equipment was being advertised for sale on eBay.

Officers executed a warrant at the address and found 38 golf buggies at the property. After further investigation, the buggies were found to be the ones which had been stolen from the business in Great Hallingbury.

A 50-year-old man from Romford arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods has been released under investigation.

The recovered golf buggies were returned to the owner and work is ongoing to locate the outstanding vehicles.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has seen brand new golf buggies for sale and are suspicious of where they have come from.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Chelmsford Community Policing Team on 101 quoting 42/30324/19.

Information can also be given completely anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at
