Archant

Nearly 70 bags of rubbish were collected as Great Dunmow residents set out on a community litter-pick as part of the National Spring Clean on Saturday morning (March 4).

Families and residents, young and old turned out to give Dunmow a lift as daffodils blossom and spring pokes its head round the corner.

A whopping 68 bags of rubbish were cleared away by the litter pick, organised by the town council, as well as abandoned tyres and even an old aquarium.

David Beedle, a Great Dunmow town councillor who attended the pick, said: “It was our best turn out which resulted in a great amount of rubbish being picked up.

“There were young mums with pushchairs and children, to get some of the young families out was brilliant.”

The litter picking troupe targeted footpaths around schools, helping clean up the areas used by young children and families as a matter of priority.
