WHAT do you want Great Dunmow's new library to look like? That is the question being asked to children in Dunmow by staff at the current library building.

Librarian Jill Palmer said: "As the opening of the exciting new library for Dunmow gets closer, the 'old' library is launching a competition.

Children from the Dunmow area are invited to draw, paint or write how they would like the library to look."

Children can enter in three categories seven and under, eight - 11, and 12 - 15.

The prize is three £10 book tokens and all prize winners will receive the VIP treatment at the opening of the new building scheduled for September this year.

Cllr Iris Pummell, cabinet member for community services said: "There will be some brilliant ideas from our

young users, and it's quite possible we might use them in our design for the new library.

"The deadline for entries is March 1 2008. To enter come and get a form from the library and join us, it is free and all you need to do is pop in."

Mrs Palmer said: "We will display all the entries in the library before we select the winners.?

"It is a very exciting time for us as we move to a much bigger premises with more books and facilities, it would be great to have an input from the children who will use it for years to come."

Plans for the new library will be available for public viewing at the library from mid February.
