ROTARIANS have been busy organising one of the biggest events of the year.
Dunmow Rotary Club, led by chairman David Edwards, will be hosting a special one off concert at Dunmow St Mary's Church.
Welcoming two of the worlds leading classical performers, Annika Kaschenz and Francesco Attesti, Mr Edwards exclaimed: "It is my good fortune to be given the privilege of organising this concert. The two brilliant artistes are currently on a world tour but will be stopping by in Dunmow on May 10."
The musicians have requested that any proceeds from what should be a magical evening will go to the Rotary Club's chosen charity, Playpumps.
Mr Edwards said: "We aim to have around an audience of 330, which will provide some marvellous acoustics for the marvellous event. And we would like to thank the Rotary member Rev David Ainge for providing the church as the venue."
The event is a real team effort from the club as members Ken Marriot and his wife, from Great Sampford have kindly agreed to sponsor the performance fee for the event and provide accommodation for the duo.
The rotary Playpumps appeal has been gathering pace ever since the turn of the year and the club hope that this performance can really boost the funds, Appeal Chairman John Bridges explains: "Playpumps is a way of providing water in poorer countries by means of a children's roundabout which pumps the water up from the ground. It is a win-win situation, not only does the village have a water supply, but the children have a meeting point and can play happily on the roundabout."
Tickets for the event are priced at £12.50 and are available from David Edwards on 01279 873467 or Wade and Davies Solicitors, 28 High Street, 01371 872816. The concert on Saturday May 10 starts at 7.30pm, doors at 7pm, At St Mary's Church, Church End, Great Dunmow.
