VAST improvements at a primary school have resulted in a glowing Ofsted report, delighting parents and staff.

Dunmow Primary School received an overall good report with some outstanding aspects, which is a stark contrast to the last report in 2005 which described the school as 'satisfactory'.

Headteacher Sylvia Ruck puts the improvement down to the commitment of staff and the provision of an exciting curriculum.

"We are delighted that the report recognises that our personal development and well being structures and our care, guidance and support are outstanding," she said.

"Our children work hard and by the time they leave us they have achieved well above the national average in all areas of the curriculum.

"All of our staff are committed and work hard. I am really pleased that our children are happy, well rounded and enjoy learning.
