On the evening of Wednesday, February 7, the Inner Wheel Club of Dunmow held another successful supper meeting at the Saracen's Head Hotel. It was attended by 36 members and guests who were entertained by Sara Farnsworth, the manager of Waitrose at Bishop's Stortford. Sara first started work with them some 20 years ago, intending to go on to university, but enjoyed the work and general ethos of the company so much that she has stayed with them ever since. Training first as a deputy manager, she went on to be branch manager in Huntingdon and five years later moved to Bishop's Stortford, where she is now the manager of the Waitrose store. Sara explained that Waitrose was part of the John Lewis Partnership and everyone of their employees is a partner. The company is not listed on the Stock Exchange and was one of the first examples of industrial democracy - with all the profits going to the 'partners'. Vice president Olga Burrell in her vote of thanks assured Sara that she shopped weekly at the

Waitrose store and said they were very lucky to have Sara at the helm. President Brenda Smith told members tickets for the Charity Lunch on Saturday, March 17, at Dunmow Day Centre are now available at £10 each.
