GREAT Dunmow Leisure Centre will be hosting a charity fund-raising competition to find the ultimate all-round athlete on Sunday.

Superstars is a charity event open to men and women over 16 who compete in events designed to test both endurance and skill.

Jo Denton, sales manager for Leisure Connection, said: "We are really looking forward to hosting this event. It will be great fun, not only for those people taking part but also those who turn up to watch and cheer everyone along."

Those wishing to take part should register themselves by 10am. The contest gets underway at 10.30am with a 500 metres time trial.

Other tests include an American penalty football shoot-out, 75 metre sprint time trial, basketball free throw shoot-out, 75 metre freestyle swimming and the turbo 2kg javelin.

Winners will receive a t-shirt signed by Olympic gold medallist Lord Coe.

Entrance is £10 per competitor, payable on the day and free for spectators. All proceeds will go to the Mayor's Charity Community Fund.
