Almost £800 was raised for charity and a church hall maintenance fund at a quiz.

Fourteen teams pitted their wits against each other during the evening, held at Our Lady and St Anne Line Church hall in Great Dunmow, on February 22.

Team ‘We’re Only Here for the Raffle’ were crowned victors with competitors enjoying a ploughman’s supper during the interval, prepared by members of the Catholic Women’s League.

Michael and Brenda Smith asked the questions and marked the sheets, in turn.

There was a variety of prizes in the raffle, some of which were donated by quiz participants.

Claire Reeve, one of the organisers, said: “A wonderful total of £770 was raised during the evening. This will be shared between Dunmow Christian Care Group, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and the church hall maintenance fund. The organisers wish to thank all those who supported the event.”
