Residents in Great Dunmow are continuing their fight against a proposed housing development.

A public meeting was called earlier this month by the town council in response to the Easton Park proposal – a site which could become part of the Local Plan and feature up to 10,000 new homes.

The meeting saw more than 100 people attend, where the finer details of the proposals were discussed.

A spokesman for Great Dunmow Town Council said: “As expected, feelings were running high with calls for the Plan be reconsidered, possibly even to the point of challenging central government’s methods of calculating the housing needs.

“Common themes of concern included traffic, public transport and amenities, such as education, open spaces and medical care, many of which are seen as either missing from the Plan or as being delivered ‘after the event’ rather than before.”
