Pupils and staff at Helena Romanes raised money for Comic Relief

Helena Romanes School in Great Dunmow raised £1,458 with drama teacher Callum MacLeod (pictured) winning best dressed male member of staff. The pupils sold cakes and held a raffle for a giant Easter egg and a Red Nose Day cake.

School spokesman Paula Barry said: “Students have been raising money all week for Comic Relief. Callum Hunt and Andrew Marling baked a tantalising array of brownies, fudge and lemon drizzle cake which completely sold out within minutes.

Callum also helped supervise an ultimate dodgeball game with year 7 students. Further activities included guess the number of jelly beans in the jar and a raffle for a giant Easter egg and a fabulous red nose day cake baked by Molly Blake, co-owner of the Tea Amo Tea-Rooms.

“The week finished with a “wear a splash of red day” for the whole school which brought a real vibe and community spirit to Helena Romanes. Students report that theyy will definitely be raising money again next year.”
