MORE than £6000 was raised at Finchingfield's village ball, which was held after a break of several years on Saturday night.

The event was held at Spain's Hall in aid of the CREAMER Fund, Finchingfield Primary School PTA, the Pre-School and Finchingfield Cricket Club.

The owners of The Stables, Spains Hall, wedding venue, waived their hire charge and The Red Lion, Finchingfield sponsored the event.

The formal dinner and dance, which was sold out within a month of tickets being made available, included a three-course meal and music from swing band In The Mood.

Jeremy Toynbee, chairman of Finchingfield School PTA said: "It really was a superb evening, with a great atmosphere, held in beautiful surroundings.
