Pupils at Great Easton Primary School attempted to replicate the poppy display at the Tower of London in their village on Armistice Day.
The idea came from Alison Bush, learning support assistant at the school, who wanted to give people who could not make it to London a chance to witness the spectacle.
Youngsters made wooden poppies, which they placed around the stone cross, and prayers they had written themselves were read out. A two minute silence was observed at the village’s memorial cross.
Two poems were also read and the Last Post was played at the end of the two minutes, by an ex-pupil of the school who returned for the occasion.
The children were encouraged to wear medals awarded to their family members in memory of their bravery and courage.
