Children at Great Dunmow Primary School saw a cheque for £560 presented to Essex Air Ambulance at their school’s assembly.

The air ambulance is the school’s chosen charity of the year.

In the autumn term, representatives of the school council nominated several charities that they wanted to raise money for. The children gave presentations in assembly so that the youngsters could choose which charity their efforts would go to. The whole school voted and Essex Air Ambulance was the charity chosen.

The money was raised through donations from parents who attended the Children’s Christmas performances and through donations from members of the public at the Christmas Tree Festival at the United Reform Church in Dunmow.

Kevin Watts, headteacher said: “This is a fantastic amount to raise and I am really pleased that the pupils chose a local charity. The parents were very generous and I am grateful for their support”.
