A cabinet minister has praised Great Dunmow Primary after it reached the top one per cent of primary schools in the country for writing and maths.
Secretary of State for Education, Damien Hinds MP, congratulated the school on the “very high standard of achievement demonstrated”, in a letter to head teacher Kevin Watts.
The school’s results, published in December, show that 100 per cent of pupils reached or exceeded the expected standard in writing and mathematics at the end of Key Stage 2.
Mr Watts said: “We are over the moon. Being in the top one per cent for writing and maths is an incredible achievement and one that I am incredibly proud of. The staff all work so hard and we have fantastic pupils and supportive parents; it’s great to get the recognition everyone deserves.”
The letter from Mr Hinds also reads: “Thank you for producing such high standards through your hard work and professionalism.”
