The Christmas lights will be turned on in Great Dunmow High Street on Saturday, December 3 and this year there will also be an ice rink.

The fun starts at 3pm with the big switch on at 6pm by Father Christmas himself. There will be food and drink stalls, a children’s tea cup ride and Santa’s Grotto will be organised by Dunmow Round Table.

Entertainment will be provided by Great Dunmow Primary School Choir, The Great Dunmow Rock Choir, The Dunmow Theatre Dance School, The Granary Dance School and a street band called No Limits.

There will also be an ice rink which will be opened by 12-year-old Jasmine Cressey. Jasmine from Flitch Green and a pupil at Helena Romanes School, is the youngest skater ever to have passed the tests the gain entry to the British Development Squad. She is ranked first in the country at Novice B which is aged up to 16. Jasmine won her first International competition in March. She has also won a further four out of five competitions this year and placed second at one competition and she has qualified for the British Championships in December.

Tickets for the ice rink need to be booked in advance at www.visit greatdunmow.co.uk/events.
