A GIANT haystack fire has sparked an investigation after firefighters battled for over five hours to put out the flames.
Two crews from Chelmsford were called to Partridge Green Farm, near Broomfield Hospital shortly before 8.30pm on Thursday night (Oct 7).
On arrival they found 100 bales of hay had caught fire. Working hard to protect surrounding properties they brought the blaze under control by 2am.
Another crew was sent in as relief and remained at the site until 6.20am on Friday.
A fire service investigation will now be carried out to establish the cause of the blaze.
