FORMER Dunmow man Gary Neill of Daniel Robinson & Sons can now officially say he is a hero, and he has the certificate to prove it.
Mr Neill, managing director of the funeral directors that has a branch in Dunmow, said: "I was sitting in a hotel in Brighton having breakfast when I received a call from BBC Essex's Ian Wyatt saying I was live on air had been named Hero of the Week."
A BBC spokesman said: "The award is a regular feature on Mr Wyatt's mid-morning Saturday show to praise people who have supported charity."
Mr Neill received his award partly for raising £35,000 for Farleigh Hospice.
