Campaign to refurbish historic church set to be launched

A fundraising campaign for a church in Rayne which dates back more than 800 years will be launched on July 12, with cheese, wine, live music and a visit from a bishop.

Fundraisers say money raised will go towards refurbishing the inside of All Saints Church, in order to make it more comfortable and welcoming in order to attract members.

Organisers want to raise at least £50,000 towards the projected total costs of £280,000, the rest of which it is hoped will come from grant bodies.

Bishop Roger Morris of Colchester will be speaking at the evening with members of the fundraising group and parochial church council on hand to answer questions at the evening, which starts at 7pm.

The money will be used to repaint the walls, putting in a new floor and putting in a projector.

Organiser Roman Kukiewicz said: “We like to honour our heritage but we are working hard to make sure that our church has a future as a well loved building.”
