The sum of £1.1 million has been granted to support young people in care and their families.
The sum of £1.1million has been granted to Essex County Council, in partnership with Hertfordshire and Norfolk County Councils, to support young people in care and their families.
The cash is from the Department of Education.
The project, Inside Out, originally launched as a pilot in Essex in 2018, is to improving stability for children and young people in care, supporting them to return home, or move to less intensive care. The project was rolled out to Hertfordshire and Norfolk last year.
The programme involves young people working with a dedicated coach, provided by The Children’s Society. The idea is that the coaches will be a point of contact regardless of where the children live.
Cllr Louise McKinlay, ECC’s Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “The funding is fantastic news for all three partners and a true testament to the hard work of everyone involved in the project. It shows that even during the circumstances we all find ourselves in, our commitment to protecting and supporting children and their families never wavers.”
