DUNMOW'S Rotary Club members were left celebrating a rip roaring success after they held their annual free concert for senior citizens.
Almost 230 people, aged over 60, packed out the Foakes Hall to enjoy the show 'Cool Britannia' presented by 'The time of our lives Musical Theatre Company'.
Written and Directed by Keith Myers, the show was a fantastic music review celebrating British life and culture from the second world onwards. Rotary President David Edwards said: "The show was great success. Everyone enjoyed the hilarious mix of music, dance, stand-up and sketch comedy. I thank fellow Rotarian Simon Roberts for organising such a wonderful event. The audience obviously enjoyed the show, and a free ice cream."
Lollies and ice cream were indeed available to the audience for free during the interval served by the ladies of the Dunmow Inner Wheel, led by President Olga Burrell.
The annual event will be continuing next year says Rotarian Peter Fox. "It would be impossible not to, after this years success," he said.
A small amount of cash was made on the door, by voluntary contribution. All of the cash will go towards the rotary's chosen charity, PlayPumps, helping children in Africa to get clean, drinkable water.
