Free Books for World Book Night at the juice project
PUBLISHED: 12:11 03 March 2011
DUNMOW’S community cafe has announced that it has 48 copies of The World’s Wife to give away as part of the World Book Night celebrations this Saturday.
Visitors can pop into the juice project.com any time between 9am and 5pm and ask for your free copy - while they last!
The books have been given to the juice project by lcoal resident Linda Pannell, who won them in a national competition.
Ms Pannell applied to become a book giver after hearing on the radio about the opportunity to receive and then give away 48 books on World Book Night.
She was asked to say in up to 100 words what had made her choose her particular book from the given list of 25 titles. She also had to nominate a group to give the books to.
Having read about the Juice Project in the Broadcast on several occasions, Ms Paneell felt that it would provide the ideal audience for her chosen book The World’s Wife. The book of poems was written by Carol Ann Duffy, the Poet Laureate, and takes a look at the world through the eyes of the women associated with famous men such as The Kray Twins, King Herod, Elvis and Rip Van Winkle. They are funny, outrageous and entertaining.
The juice project hopes to use these books to launch a new monthly book club, starting on Wednesday March 9 at 7.30pm. This will broaden the range of activities already available at the community cafe which include a very popular knitting group, meeting every Monday at 7.30pm, and Wii tournament that takes place between 7pm and 9pm on a Saturday evening.
