Four armed men posing as police officers stole a van from a motorist on the M11 at Hatfield Heath on Saturday (July 23).

The carjacking incident took place just before 9.10am between Junction 7 and Junction 8, and the stolen van was a white Mercedes Sprinter, which was travelling northbound.

The driver and passenger of the van were unharmed and a police helicopter assisted officers on the ground in a search for the vehicle.

The four men, who were reportedly armed with a firearm and posing as police, were travelling in a silver Ford Mondeo.

Police are appealing to anyone who has seen either vehicle to contact Essex Police on 101 immediately.
