Firefighters rescue six horses from Hatfield Heath stable fire

Three horses were treated by a vet after a fire broke out in a stable.
A horse has died after a fire broke out in a stable.
Firefighters from Leaden Roding, Old Harlow and Sawbridgeworth were sent to Dunmow Road, Hatfield Heath, at just after 2am today (Monday) to extinguish the blaze, affecting a stable measuring 10 metres by 10 metres.
There were seven horses in the stable at the time, Essex Fire has said.
Assistant divisional officer Len Cleary said: “Crews acted swiftly and efficiently to prevent this incident from escalating. Some of the buildings were completely destroyed by the fire.
“One horse was confirmed deceased on arrival. The quick actions of firefighters helped rescue the remaining six horses from the stables.”
The fire was put out by 3.50am.
A vet assisted with three horses at the scene.
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.
