FIREFIGHTERS have successfully put out a blaze that threatened to destroy a tractor and its trailer.
Crews from Wethersfield, Thaxted and Dunmow were called to Toppesfield Road in Finchingfield on Monday just before 4pm.
A tractor pulling along 320 tonnes of silage had caught fire and flames were beginning to take hold.
Wearing breathing apparatus crews took nearly two hours to bring the situation under control.
There were no injuries and the farmer involved even managed to assist.
