FIREFIGHTERS were called to a detached house in Great Hallingbury on Sunday afternoon after its roof went up in flames.
Crews from Stansted, Dunmow, Stortford and Sawbridgeworth arrived at the property in Howe Green shortly after 4.30pm.
The roof, measuring 15 metres by eight metres, was described as “well alight” by the time they arrived, and it took over two hours to put out the blaze.
Firefighters stayed at the scene for a time afterwards to ensure the area remained cool.
