Two men have received fixed penalty notices for verbally abusing parking attendants over the last month.

In May, a 20-year-old local man who had parked in Cross Street lost his temper with a parking attendant issuing him a ticket and gave him verbal abuse. The man was issued with an £80 fine on Saturday.

On June 2, a 25-year-old local man gave a parking attendant abuse in Thaxted Road. He was also given an £80 fine, under Section 5 of the Public Order Act.

Sgt Ashley Seymour said: "If parking attendants are given verbal abuse, they will be reporting it to the police, we will be investigating, and where relevant, people will receive penalty notices for disorder or other punishments.

"If anyone has an issue with tickets they should contact the district council.
