A-LEVEL students at Felsted School achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in this year’s exams with 33 per cent achieving A grades or better.

The newly introduced A* grade also gave pupils extra incentive to perform as 82 per cent managed to score A* to C and in total 14 students swept the board with straight A’s or A*’s.

Combined with the schools excellent International Baccalaureate results announced earlier this summer it has been a proud year for headmaster Dr Michael Walker.

“These are very good results and I am delighted for our students who have worked so hard,” he said. “They can be very proud of what they have achieved and thoroughly deserve their success.

“Felsted offers exceptional ‘value added’ for students; they are lively, go-getting and confident young people who love a challenge, genuinely serve the community, show strong leadership potential, and want to make a difference in society.

“I wish them every success at university and beyond.”

Felsted’s top performer was Benedict Gibbon, who gained four A-Levels in total – two A*’s in history and religious Studies, an A grade in English and a B in music technology.

Musically-minded Ben, 18, who lives in Kensington, London, was a full boarder at Felsted, and has gained his place at UCL to study philosophy.

His teachers said that he fully involved himself in all aspects of school life, whether on the football pitch or as a main role in school drama productions.

His ambition is to go on and be a solo musician and songwriter.

Arabella Head, 18, from Barnston, was also delighted to receive her results.

She achieved one A* and two A grades in geography, English and psychology respectively and will be going to study geography at LSE in September.

“I am so pleased with my results – so much better than I expected and really happy to have secured my first choice,” she said. “I am not sure what my ambitions are as yet, but I am quite keen to work within finance in the city after university.”
