A group of 74 children from Felsted Preparatory School sang at the O2 Arena in London, in a choir of 8,000 voices. in the largest Young Voices choir.

After rehearsing weekly since September, the children joined mass rehearsals in the O2, led by conductor David Lawrence.

During the concert, the arena was dark except for tiny torches. The music ranged from traditional folk songs, rock and pop medleys, African chant, 80s hits and songs accompanied by sign language.

The children worked with the street dance group Urban Strides, and did the JT remix with them, copying Justin Timberlake dance moves. Other artists included the Beatbox collective, singer Natalie Williams and X Factor guitarist, Tabby Callaghan.

Felsted Prep music teacher, Rachel Clark, said: “The children were completely in awe of where they were and the excitement on their faces was wonderful. I am so proud of how hard they worked to learn the songs and their incredible spirit throughout the whole day.”
