FELSTED students achieved amazing success in this year's A-level results, with pupils averaging three A grades each.

Five students even went one better by scoring four A grades in this years exams, they were James Balfour, from Witham, Kevin Chen, from Taiwan, Freya Gabbutt, from St Albans, Georgina Plunkett, from Felsted, and Jessica Pratt, from Little Dunmow.

James, who will now head off to study economics at Durham University, said: "I am really excited to have achieved the best results possible and I will certainly be celebrating tonight!"

Emma Hance, one of the top performers at GCSE level two years ago, did very well again by recording three A grades in economics, geography and history and is now heading for Bath to study economics and politics in September.

Departing head boy, Chris McLeod, also had success in French, Geography and Music by gaining A grades in each. He said: "I needed AAB to get into St Andrews, so I am so ecstatic to have done even better than that."

New headmaster Michael Walker was visibly delighted with the schools best ever results and paid tribute to the hard work and endeavour of the students. With a big smile, he said: "I would also like to praise and encourage the Felsted students in L6 who have just taken AS levels this summer and created firm foundations for success next year when they complete their A Level examinations.

"Not only do this years students deserve credit for their magnificent achievements, but I would also wish to acknowledge the substantial achievements of my predecessor Stephen Roberts who was Headmaster here for 15 years and who has achieved a great deal in the school.

"I feel privileged to follow him and be able to build on what he and staff and the talented students have all done together.
