FEBRUARY promises to be an exciting month at the Civic Theatre in Chelmsford.

The month gets off to a vivacious start with the arrival of Britten Sinfonia (Feb 1) and the scintillating oboe-playing of Nicholas Daniel in a programme centered around Vaughan William's pastoral Oboe Concerto

The drama highlight of the month is Billy Liar (Feb 17-21), presented by Middle Ground Theatre Company and starring Helen Fraser. She is joined by an all star cast.

Classical X-tra (Feb 24) features award winning young flute virtuoso Eimear McGeown, who brings a world premiere of 'Romance for Flute and Piano' by Jeffery Wilson (who accompanies on Piano).

For the theatre's ever-growing comedy fan base, legend of the Yamaha organ John Shuttleworth makes a visit to Chelmsford with his Minor Tour (and other mythological creatures) (Feb 5) to entertain with his hilarious songs based on everyday trivia.

A great selection of speakers are also performing at the Civic this spring. This month, the theatre welcomes Jimmy Greaves (Feb 4) with anecdotes from the world of international football, and Jonathan Miller (Feb 11), whose career has spanned theatre, opera, film, television and medicine.

Potted Pirates (Feb 21-22) provides another mad-cap caper following the hilarious success of Potted Potter. This is family entertainment at its best and is suitable for children aged over-6.

For a real livener and a pop party not to be missed, Civic legends That'll Be The Day (Feb 9-10) will perform back-to-back classic hits from the 50s through to the 90s.
