Fears of extinction for Dunmow Pantomime Group if funding is not found

A LONG-ESTABLISHED pantomime group fears it could die out if funding is not secured to stage the next show.

Dunmow Pantomime Group has been performing in the town since the second world war and has raised thousands of pounds for charity in the process.

However, the group is finding it a struggle to continually find the £9,000 it takes to put on performances each year.

A spokesman for the group said: “The group now rests in the very safe hands of some much needed fresh young blood, great enthusiasm and ideas – but all these ideas cost money.

“If the group is to survive, give pleasure to the people of Dunmow and somewhere our new young talent can grow, it is going to need support. We would hate this tradition to die out.”

Many local people have starred in the productions over the past 70 plus and this years Babes In The Wood performance was well received by audiences of all ages.

Dunmow Pantomime Group is now looking for sponsorship, new members and help ahead of January’s performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

If you are able to support us in any way e-mail bsavill@sky.com and a member of the group will be delighted to contact you.
