A successful book author delighted children at Great Dunmow St Mary’s Primary School on November 3.
Nick Butterworth, an award-winning writer and illustrator, told anecdotes about his childhood, and drew dragons on a board while he spoke.
His work includes the Q Pootle 5 and Percy the Park Keeper series, and queues of children lined up for a book signing afterwards.
Pupils from Felsted and Roding Primary School also attended and the event was organised by the Book Trust to coincide with Children’s Book Week. Suzanne Wood, librarian at St Mary’s, said: “This has gone really well, the children were really engaged and it’s nice to have all the three schools promoting a love of reading in children.”
