MOUNTAIN rescue teams in Ireland had to rescue a group of walkers including two children who grew up in Debden. The group was made up of Dr Tim Flack, from Cambridge, two of his own children, and two of his partner, Donna Glover's, children from a previous marriage.Mrs Glover and her two children, Sophie and Emily, lived in Debden with father Darren Glover, until December 2004.Dr Flack and the four children, all aged between seven and nine, were on holiday in Ireland with Mrs Glover. On Monday, January 2, Dr Flack had decided to take the children for a walk. But when darkness descended on Healy Pass in the Caha Mountains in Castletownbere, west Cork, at 5pm, he realised that they needed assistance.Kerry Mountain Rescue and Castletownbere Cliff Rescue were dispatched to rescue them after he contacted the local emergency services using his mobile phone.Dr Flack used the flash on his camera as a makeshift beacon to help the rescue teams locate them. They were found at about 9.30pm and were brought back to safety within two hours.Dr Flack said: "The rescue team were just unbelievable."We were very, very lucky. The children were quite wet and cold by the time we were rescued and the rescue team was so good, giving the children blankets and Ribena and so on."We had such a great holiday and even with what happened we all want to come back to Ireland."Darren Glover said: "I will be forever indebted to the team of mountain rescuers, whose names I don't know and whoI will never have the good fortune to meet and thank personally for their brave actions.
