Families have moved into new council homes built by Uttlesford District Council at Mead Court, Stansted, officially opened on Friday, February 3.
The 29 rented properties include 12 flats, eight family homes, nine bungalows and four temporary accommodation units.
Harry Woodacre who moved into one of the bungalows with his wife, Maureen, said: “The design and finish of the bungalow is great. Our quality of life is so much better and we couldn’t have asked for more.”
Ruhul Amin who moved into a two-bed home with his wife Sajeda and their two children, said: “This area of Stansted has special meaning for me. I lived in a flat with my mum in the old complex before the redevelopment, so the memory of her is here.”
The new homes at Mead Court replaced, cramped bedsits and nine underused garages on the site. The new homes have heating and hot water systems designed to save fuel.
