Essex women help to fight cancer in Race for Life

INDEPENDENCE could not be further from the minds of a team of ladies taking part in a 5k challenge this July 4.
Relying on each other and memories of cherished ones to get through the Chelmsford Race for Life event in Hylands Park this Sunday is a dedicated band of friends from Taylor’s service centre in Great Dunmow.
According to team member Jayne Taylor, personal battles and tragedies will help to spur them on as they try to raise at least £500 for Cancer Research UK.
She said: “We were invited by Mary Clark to join her in support of this cause when sadly she lost her husband Trevor, a much valued customer of many years, to this illness.
“This year the family commemorate the tenth anniversary of Trevor’s death by again putting a team together to run or walk the Race for Life event.”
The women know all to well that cancer can affect anyone and that vital money for research needs to be raised to help fight the disease.
Only in the past 12 months they have seen a number of cases affect people at the company in different ways.
Jayne added: “We realised just how much this awful disease had affected our company over the past year – losing a much loved colleague’s wife and the father of one of our service advisors. Also, a husband of one of our ladies in accounts and a member of my own family are undergoing treatment of this illness at present.
“So it is time to take action and all the Taylor’s ladies have risen to the challenge and are involved in this event, because now it is very personal”.
Taylor’s have been established in Great Dunmow now for 22 years. From its base on the Chelmsford Road industrial estate the company supports many events, for example the recent Saling fate last Sunday raising money for the Church restoration fund.
