WANTED - one Christmas tree measuring about 30 feet high to form the centrepiece of a picturesque Essex village.

That is the major thing on the wish-list of all Finchingfield residents, as with just six weeks to go until Christmas Day they still do not have a special tree for the village.

Resident and annual tree organiser Roy Cox put out the plea, he explained: "Each year a willing team of helpers erect a 30-foot high in the village pond during the first weekend of December.

"Last year's tree had over 1000 lights and it has become a traditional feature of the village.

"The tree has always been donated by someone with a tree growing in their garden which has become too big - but this year no-one has come forward and it feels like something will be missing."

If anyone has a tree that has grown too large (minimum 28 feet) and they would like to donate it to Finchingfield please contact Roy or Alex Cox on 07818 272444.

Mr Cox said he will arrange for the tree to be cut down and transported to the village and the donor will be given the opportunity to officially switch on the lights on Saturday December 12.
